The research in this article establishs a clear connection between the consumption of sugary soft drinks and obesity. Not just in our generation but this new research suggest we pass it along to the next generation and on. Although it took a generation to fundamentally change attitudes about smoking, there is clear evidence that habitual consumption of colas is bad for us. Just as the tobacco companies had a strong influence through advertising and political connections, America chose to deny cigarettes in large numbers. Why can’t we do the same for products that are targeted to appeal to children and young adults?
